This bookstore feels like a community of writers and artists got together to share their work. The selection is eclectic and the author events are amazing and intimate.
It was well organized and the staff was very helpful. However the wait to purchase/checkout was very long and it took a long time for me to make my purchases due to a slow network and system and inexperienced staff. It was also VERY crowded.
Took a tour as a Parent. All looks good. Excited for my son to attend this school.
The bookstore posted the textbooks required for all of my classes, but failed to specify which version we needed. After classes started, the bookstore refused to give me a a refund on my textbooks after my professor said that we needed different versions than what was listed on the bookstore website. The bookstore will only offer a full refund if your professor speaks to the course materials manager directly. Unfortunately the textbooks I needed to return were only found at the CSUSM bookstore. If I can help it, I won't be ordering books from them again.
Don't go there thinking you're getting a real price match on books. Although there are tons of signs everywhere saying that the store price matches, what they really do is charge you the full price of the book but then give you the remaining balance after applying the "price match" on a university/bookstore store credit. Also, when speaking with an associate about the "price matching," they will say that they "match" amazon and chegg prices, period. Then when you get up to the register, you are informed that they only match the prices for buying a book through amazon not renting it. Best option is to just buy online and skip the fake "price matching" at the bookstore and end up with over $150-$200 worth of store credit.
